We want you to join the fun!
Every school that is a part of Thespians is assigned a Troupe Number. A troupe is one way to identify members of each school. Starting a troupe is actually a fairly simple process. Each new school pays a one-time $95 sign-up fee, a $95 annual troupe registration fee and must induct at least (6) members in their first year at a cost of $28 per student.
In future years, you’ll only have to pay the $95 renewal fee, unless you want to add additional members. So, for a relatively small amount of money, you and your students can join in on the largest theatre organization in the world. Each inducted student will receive a full year subscription to Dramatics magazine along with their membership identification card; each director receives a subscription to Teaching Theatre magazine. Having a troupe also allows you a way to manage student involvement and opens you up to a variety of other theatre opportunities both nationally and in your state as well as providing ways to network with other theatre teachers and students. Additionally, all chapters will have insurance coverage for their any theatre events at their own school related to their Thespian troupe.
The best place to get started is at the EdTA’s website (www.schooltheatre.org/ITS). They have all the information and forms you will need. If after visiting their site you have questions about starting your troupe, call the EdTA home office at 513-421-3900 and ask to speak to someone in their “Membership Division”.
